Just a few months ago, Anderson native Angela Martin got the first copies of her newly published book, “How to Ruin Your Ex-Husband’s Life One Day at a Time.” That same day, she got a call from an unlikely source.

“It was crazy because the people from the Emmys called me the day I got the book in hand and were interested in putting it in the gift bags,” Martin said. “I overnighted them a copy, they said “Yes” and now I get to go to Hollywood.”

This weekend, Martin will be hobnobbing with some of Hollywood’s elite as she passes out copies of her book.

It’s a tongue-in-cheek view on separation, divorce and ways to cope with the shock of the ordeal.

Martin wrote the book after she and a friend were walking and talking about non-violent ways they could get back at their ex-husbands. After a lot of laughing and some unique ideas, it quickly dawned on her that she could write a lot of it down and put out a book.

Now, she has appeared on “The Early Show” in New York City, given a copy to Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, and will provide her book in swag bags for the Emmys on Sunday.

“This is a huge confidence boost to me,” Martin said. “It’s great for me and for what I was speaking to in the book.”

Martin will attend Emmy parties both before and after the event. She expects to meet some stars and will even ask those she meets to give their best relationship advice, sign a copy of her book and auction it off for breast cancer research.

For now, however, she is living her dream and looking forward to making this her full-time job.

“This is way above and beyond anything I ever expected,” she said. “It’s slow as far as income, but it’s a huge success for me.”
