Officials look to help police relations on Anderson’s eastside

A meeting at Anderson City Hall today will bring some of the city’s leaders and residents of one of its embattled neighborhoods together.

At 11 a.m., there will be a meeting between Anderson Mayor Terence Roberts, Stewart, City Council member Tom Dunaway, Anderson City Manager John Moore, Anderson Police Chief Martin Brown and four eastside residents.

Anderson City Council member Tom Dunaway said Sunday that he hopes the meeting will improve relations with the city and the residents of the eastside.

“We want to enhance relations with the residents of the eastside and the police officers,” Dunaway said.

Anderson Police Chief Martin Brown, when reached at home, said he doesn’t want to talk about the meeting until it is finished.

The meeting is being held after a police responded to a 911 call on Anderson’s eastside last week. The call, which came in around 11:30 p.m. Monday, was about a disturbance at a home along Jefferson Avenue and Railroad Street.

it doesnt matter what that do. it want change things. because when anything happens nobody sees or hears are knows anything except the police are racist and dont know how to do their job.

You hold the same attitude as a lot of other people. That is the exact reason why nothing will ever change. You don't want to change things, you just want to sit around and bash the police by calling them racist. Get involved and do something to make a positive change. Saying the police do not know how to do their jobs and calling them racist isn't helping a thing.
